Places - Havelock Island and Neil Island
Havelock Island is situated 38km/21nm from Port Blair. Regular ferry services, makes Havelock a very popular destination among tourist.
Places to visit in and around Havelock Island & Neil Island :-
Radha Nagar beach is rated as a world class beach. Radhanagar Beach is a surreal experience. While walking on it one could hear the sound of waves gently splashing against the beach on left ear and on right ear one could hear bird song from the forest. Simply the best of both worlds. The clear, turquoise water also makes a beautiful just a position with the white, sandy beach. There is also some snorkeling, for anyone who wants to swim with the fishes.
Snorkeling is explore the underwater wonders of the Andaman Seas, see shoals of colourful tropical fish pass by, marvel at the coral reefs and watch other marine animals such as hermit crabs, sea anemones, giant clams, sponges, etc. Snorkels are available on hire at moderate rates in all these water sports centers.
Elephant Beach is further north from Radhanagar and is popular with Indian tourists. The coral here is probably the best on the island, making this an excellent spot for snorkeling.
Vijay Nagar beach also offers calm seas and white sand. Havelock has rich coral life and is a very popular destination for snorkelling and scuba diving.
Scuba diving is probably the biggest activity on the island other than lying around and eating great seafood. The diving possibilities around the Andamans are vast and it feels that what has been discovered is only the beginning and even that is pretty great.
Neil Island is situated 22km/20nm from Port Blair. Neil, with its very relaxed vibe and long, deserted beaches is a place to chill out after the "bustle" of Havelock. Neil is quite small compared to Havelock. Its widest part is about 5 km in length. You can walk the whole island in about an hour or two.
Sitapur beach is a very popular tourist destination. Snorkeling here plus a small cave to check out. Lots of shells around if you are a shell collector.
